I am a ceramic sculptor turned jeweler.
Story telling and textures have been my ceramic sculpture aesthetic. With the change in medium and new restrictions that comes with jewelry design I have struggled to find my voice/style.
My first collection is about this struggle and how my ceramic techniques fit in to the new world of metal and jewelry. Metal can be formed into geometrical shapes easily when clay seems to refuse to be squared up. Clay also feels like it absorbs texture when metal repels them. With the idea of metal being geometrical and my style being textural it pushed me into making a three part collection: geometrical forms, framed textures and organic textures.
